Our Innovative Vascular Technology

Kips Bay Medical was founded in 2007 by its C.E.O. and Chairman Manny Villafaña, to develop and bring to market innovative therapies for the cardiac surgeon. Over the next year, the Company focused on collecting the requisite pre-clinical data in order to conduct the first-in-man experience with the eSVS® Mesh – a nitinol mesh outer sleeve designed to support a saphenous vein graft to help keep vein grafts open in CABG patients.

Subsequently, the Company sponsored and performed a 90 patient multi-center clinical study outside the US to primarily demonstrate the safety of the eSVS® Mesh device when used in CABG surgery. As a result, the eSVS® Mesh received CE Mark approval in May of 2010 and efforts to commercialize the device started immediately. Since the first-in-man experience, we estimate that the eSVS® Mesh device has been implanted in over 500 patients in multiple cardiovascular centers outside the US.
